Photography Consultation
- Photography is more than learning how to operate a camera. It is also about developing an individual way of seeing, making creative decisions and finding your personal direction.
Drawing on my many years of photographic experience, including the award of Fellowship of the Royal Photographic Society (FRPS) in 1989, I offer personalised photography consultations for photographers seeking guidance in developing their work.
Each consultation is tailored to the individual's needs and may cover photographic direction, portfolio review, image selection, creative development and specific photographic projects. It is a focused one-to-one discussion centred on your photography and the areas you wish to develop.

A Personal Approach
- Constructive feedback on image selection, sequencing, presentation and overall portfolio direction.
- Guidance in developing a distinctive personal approach, from seeing and composition to building a consistent body of work.
- Personal discussion focused on your interests, questions and photographic goals.
- Every photographer has a different way of seeing and a different direction they wish to pursue. My consultation is therefore not based on a fixed syllabus.
It is a personal exchange where we look at your photography, discuss your ideas and identify areas for further development.
My aim is not to impose a particular style, but to help you recognise and develop your own photographic voice.
Why Choose KC Lee for Photography Consultation?
My photographic journey began in the late 1970s and developed into a professional career spanning several decades. I studied photography under the late Richard Farrand, FRPS, FBIPP, and subsequently gained recognition through international photographic competitions and exhibitions.
In 1987, I was awarded the Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS) in Pictorial, followed in 1989, by the Fellowship (FRPS) in Portraiture, becoming the first individual in Singapore to hold an FRPS in Portraiture.
In 1991, I founded Portrait Master Studio, building an extensive professional portrait practice. My clients included regional royalty, Malaysian Tan Sri and Datuk, Singapore ministers, ambassadors and senior executives of major international companies, including Hilton Hotels, and many others.
This experience developed my understanding of lighting, composition, presentation, communication, directing subjects and capturing individual character - skills that go beyond the technical operation of a camera.
I also taught photography at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Extra-Mural Department and conducted seminars and talks on portraiture at NUS, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the National Institute of Education (NIE). My work and experience have also been featured in publications and television media Arts Central.
After closing Portrait Master Studio in 2008, I turned my primary focus toward my artistic career, continuing to develop my photography alongside my work as an artist.
Today, I bring together decades of photographic experience, professional practice, teaching and an ongoing artistic career to offer a personal and considered approach to photography consultation.
